25 UNAPOLOGETIC CURVY WOMEN WHO SHOWED THEIR CELLULITE BEFORE KIM KARDASHIAN

The images of Kim Kardashian showing her cellulite are storming social media like crazy. Every day I see these images of her.

Even if the press praises her for her unapologetic attitude about her look, she is not the first one to be brave to show her natural unedited skin to the world. Furthermore, Kim didn’t revolutionise the way we see cellulite, nor did she start a movement as the press tried to point out.

I applaud her for being brave and confident enough to present her natural skin to the world. I’m also happy to see that she joined the body positive movement, but we know it started long before her.

We from Style & Curve Magazine follow this movement for a long time now and we are used to images showing cellulite, stretch marks, thick thighs and belly’s.

Therefore, I picked the most known plus size models and bloggers who were unapologetic about their bodies before Kim Kardashian in the collection below:

JOBY BACH

ASHLEY GRAHAM

ISKRA LAWRENCE

TESS HOLLIDAY

LOEY LANE

LAURA LEE

GABIFRESH

DENISE BIDOT

MARCIEL HOPKINS

All these women and Kim deserve our respect for showing their so-called flaws to the public. I also showed my own cellulite in shootings from the past as you can see in the post below:

Always be unapologetic about your look. I was so insecure as a teen about my #booty, my #thickthights, my #strechmarks and #belly. I tried to cover up as good as possible, but you can't cover up what's meant to #shine! Today I am much more #confident about myself and my #body. I don't mind to show my #naturalskin anymore. I love my body and my personality. I am special and precious in my own way. Now I only feel bad for following the rules of the society, the media, my friends and family for way too long. I am perfect the way I am and the man who loves me, does this cause I am like this! #loveyourself & #loveyourbody! You rule over your life, but trust me you can't do it if you hate yourself or if you try to please others. Please your own wishes for your life first and the people who love you will still follow. Trust me, I know this for sure! WE CURVY WOMEN ARE UNAPOLOGETIC ABOUT OUR BODIES, BECAUSE WE ARE FINALLY ENJOYING THE WAY WE LOOK AND WE ARE FINALLY CONFIDENT ABOUT OURSELFS!

At the end of the day, why should we hide the cellulite when it was meant to shine?

Silvana Denker, German body positive activist, photographer and model, thinks we shouldn’t hide our flaws as she shows in her post:

#wokeuplikethis when I was in Madrid after a short night. #nomakeup #nofilter #nophotoshop And please register the beautiful toilet in the background, it is very important for the message of the picture 😂😂😂😂 I have big thighs, a belly with rolls, I have bumps, stretch marks, dark under-eye circles and I have to wear glasses or contact lenses because I can't see very well and I have scars. That's me, without styling, without any beautiful fashion, not retouched, just me the way I am. My life wasn't always easy, I went through some very hard years but I never gave up and became the person who I am now. I'm proud to be me, proud I never gave up no matter what happened. And my body tells the story of my life, I learned to love my body with all the "flaws", I learned to love myself and now I'm happier than I ever was. Don't hate yourself, life is too short ❤ #bodylove #bodypositive #loveyourself #loveyourbody #spreadlove #nobodyshaming #nobullying #selflove #acceptance #love

SHOULD VICTORIA’S SECRET HIRE CURVY MODELS NEXT YEAR?

3ae52cce00000578-3987332-image-a-128_1480537343328

Kendall Jenner for VS

Tonight was the Night! The Victoria’s Secret show was held at the Grand Palais in Paris tonight! The most wanted top models were gracing the catwalk at tonight’s show, including the celebrity supermodel Kendall Jenner and Gigi + Bella Hadid.

THE SHOW WAS AGAIN ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS IN THE WORLD, BUT I COULDN’T CARE TO WATCH IT AT ALL!!!!

The reason for this is not because the models aren’t amazing, and not because they are too thin, it is because a brand is just doing a presentation showing their products only on smaller sizes. I know that VS has bodies in XL, because some plus size models already wore their lingerie for shootings. Furthermore, in this case I do not accept the stupid excuse that they only chose thinner models to save money on the materials. The models are wearing cheap lingerie, except for the super-expensive bra they are presenting at the end. Let’s face it, they don’t want to use curvy models because many viewers out there would still consider them as ‘fat’ or ‘obese’. These comments and flimsy excuses are ridiculous!

WHICH IS WHY WE WANTED TO ASK YOU IF YOU WANT VICTORIA’S SECRET TO ALSO CAST SOME CURVY MODELS NEXT YEAR????

To simplify the descisions, we already chose some models for you. We have put them next to known VS models to let you see that there are no differences, except for their sizes. This is not a comparison, and we don’t want you to disparage the other models. All sizes are beautiful for us and it should be for you too.

Tell us what you think, should VS hire curvy models?

REACTIONS TO THE LATEST SHOW

Twitter:

‘I don’t really like that Victoria’s Secret models are all skinny with no curves. That’s not what the average body looks like.’

‘I want a girl with an actual booty to model Victoria’s Secret panties. Too much to ask?’

‘But why are all the Victoria’s Secret models flat chested? I mean you’re selling bras.’

‘Victoria’s Secret models literally have nothing on Ashley Graham or Iskra like are you kidding me?’

Daily Mail:

‘Twenty years ago, supermodel Karen Mulder sashayed down a makeshift catwalk at the Plaza Hotel in New York wearing just a pretty white babydoll nightie, all honeyed limbs and glorious blonde hair.

This was a very early Victoria’s Secret lingerie show, which sent shock waves through the industry for its risqué ensembles and generous helpings of glamorous, golden flesh.

The American lingerie brand, then in its infancy, had struck upon a potent formula: send beautiful women down a catwalk in their undies and you’ll attract attention.

Nowadays these are the kinds of outfits the models wear just to travel to the shows; the stuff they actually wear on the catwalk is so revealing you can practically glimpse their internal organs.

There’s something else striking about the pictures from 20 years ago, too. The girls have curves. Not excessive ones, of course —this is still a catwalk, they’re all slim as pins. But they don’t look like they’ve been surviving on nothing but chamomile colonics and tissue paper for the previous three weeks, like the current lot.’

THEN vs NOW

I think the only model who rocked her curves in a wonderful way was Irina Shayk, but that could also be because she is pregnant!

I hope to see a change soon for VS, because it is finally time for you to also listen to your consumers on social media. Sorry Victoria’s Secret if I was ill-mannered, but I really think you should change things within your marketing because you will lose the popularity in the future!

Kind regards,

Talking about the struggle to be pregant and plus size…

Having another baby has been a beautiful process & at times, frustrating. As I enter my 8th month, my body overall looks the same other than my belly & I'm okay with that. What I've had to be learn to be okay with (WHICH IS NOT COOL) is the fact that people still think it's okay to comment on my body: "you don't look pregnant", "you must be have quadruplets", "you are putting your baby at risk" & a slew of other uneducated statements that are very far from my reality 🙄. When "celebrities" are pregnant in the press, they look glamorous, toned & are eager to talk about how they are going to get the baby weight off. While I've done my best to look as put together as possible, that's not real life, & it's not for most women. I'm not the first plus size woman in the public eye to have a baby & share it with the world, & I certainly won't be the last. However I'm part of a small minority that's telling you it's okay to not have a perfect baby bump, or not show at all, to be plus size & have a healthy child, & most importantly to find a care provider that doesn't shame you about your size. It's also okay to tell someone to fuck off when they give you unsolicited advice about what's "best" for you & your baby. As women, we know what's best & that's our business.. No one else's. 👑 #effyourbeautystandards #theresnowrongwaytobeawoman #32weeks #babyhollidayontheway
